Pedagogy Seminar - Developing Early Writing

Emma Foyle, Deputy Head at Stourfield Infant School, will lead this seminar which will focus on understanding the pedagogy and development of early writing, as well as providing delegates with a range of practical strategies and ideas.


During this seminar, Emma will cover: -

The stages of writing

An overview of the stages of writing from drawing and mark making to developing as a fluent writer.

Communication and language and writing

Creating a rich language environment and the importance of the link

between speaking and listening and becoming a writer.

Physical development and writing 

Learning to write is closely linked to a child's physical development with an

emphasis on gross and fine motor skills.

Motivating children to write

Planning opportunities to experiment with and have a purpose for writing,

alongside adult modelling of the writing process.
